Ask any coffee drinker and they will tell you: coffee has worthwhile benefits. Beyond just providing you that early morning pick-me-up and its pleasant aroma, there is growing evidence that coffee may be impacting our health…for the better!

According to a survey conducted by National Coffee Association (NCA) back in 2018, 64 per cent of people said they drank coffee in the past 24 hours and 70 per cent of coffee drinkers in a survey done by Nestle said that coffee makes them a better person.

Besides its energizing effects, coffee has been linked to a long list of potential benefits, giving you all the more reasons to get brewing.

So, just how does coffee affect your well-being?

1. Coffee can give your memory a boost

One of the best benefits of coffee? It’s the ability to give your memory a boost. In a small study done by the Radiological Society of North America, researchers found that two cups of coffee were able to boost participants’ short-term memory as a result of caffeine’s effect on higher brain function.

Besides the ability to boost your memory (when taken in moderation), coffee may also improve various aspects of your brain function, including:

  • Mood 
  • Reaction time 
  • Vigilance
  • Attention 
  • Learning
  • General mental function

2. Coffee can help you live longer

Okay, so drinking coffee alone may not necessarily make you live longer but some research suggests that coffee drinkers do appear to live longer than non-coffee drinkers. In fact, one cup a day was associated with a 12 per cent decreased risk of death while two to three cups reduce a person’s mortality risk regardless of factors such as age, weight status, and alcohol consumption by 18 per cent.

However, the mechanism and effect of coffee’s influence on ageing are not yet fully understood and more studies are needed.

3. Coffee can increase your energy and physical performance

Thanks to its caffeine content, coffee may help some people maintain alertness and energy levels. In fact, when coffee is consumed, it is absorbed into the bloodstream and travels to the brain where it “fires up” certain neutrons which may improve mood, memory, energy, and cognitive function – if of course, you consume coffee moderately.

Some studies even suggest that drinking coffee before exercise may reduce rates of exertion and potentially improve athletic or any physical performance.

So, when is the best time to drink coffee?

That entirely depends on your personal schedule of course. But the short answer: 

  • 9:30 AM-11:30 AM is the best time for peak daytime performance 
  • If you need an afternoon pickup (especially after a heavy lunch) but make sure you have 6 hours to burn off the caffeine before you try to sleep 
  • 30-60 minutes before starting your workout routine or any exercise

Leveraging the crowd to drive outdoor engagement and build brand awareness

SUPER Coffee, an international coffee brand has recently appointed MyBump Media to roll out a crowd advertising campaign focusing on brand awareness while concurrently with the “Wira-Wira Harian Contest” by SUPER Coffee. The main purpose of the campaign was to build more outdoor engagement and awareness among working adults, retirees, and coffee lovers across the Malaysian market.

To promote SUPER coffee as the preferred coffee to overcome life’s challenges, we conducted a unique 360° campaign execution comprising four of MyBump Media’s advertising solutions including Car Wrap Advertising, Online Endorsements, Crowdstorm, and Consumer Feedback.

We selected an accumulative total of 90 Brand Ambassadors who were either staying or travelling within high traffic and Malay-centric areas in 6 target locations; Klang Valley, Johor Bahru, Terengganu, Kelantan, and Pahang to drive awareness among road users.

With Klang Valley being the highest traffic area among other target locations, 35 out of 90 brand ambassadors were selected to roam the roads of KL City Centre, Kota Damansara, Shah Alam, and Kerinchi while the remaining 55 other chosen ambassadors promoted SUPER coffee on their cars in other states as mentioned above.

To further drive awareness and OOH engagement, we utilized our Crowdstorm solutions with ambassadors wearing SUPER Coffee T-shirts at public locations while giving away the SUPER Coffee product sampling consisting of 3 flavours; SUPER Original, SUPER Zero Sugar, and SUPER Rich.

Besides just leveraging outdoor advertising, we extended the campaign reach with Online Endorsements where 50 of the best-fit ambassadors under the nano-influencer category shout out about SUPER Coffee through social media sharing ofSUPER Coffee products within their community of followers on Instagram and Facebook.

Lastly, we also engaged with a total of 100 respondents consisting of genuine “coffee” consumers themselves to participate in a short Consumer Feedback survey for SUPER Coffee aimed to help them get to know their consumers better.
